Who is Ms. Owens?
Dear 6th Grade Parents and Families,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 academic school year! My name is Ms. Owens and I am your child’s 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. This is my 12th year teaching and my first year teaching at TEACH Public Schools. Most of my teaching career has been with the 5th grade, however, I believe that 6th grade is also incredible! I hope that you have enjoyed your summer break and are ready for another exciting school year. I am delighted to be here and I am looking forward to a rewarding experience!
I am an undergraduate of Cal Poly Pomona and a graduate of Mt. Saint Mary’s College of Los Angeles. I am a mother of two active sons and I spend much of my free time participating in their extracurricular activities, cooking new recipes, bike riding at the beach and dancing. I truly enjoy finding new ways to introduce and explain math concepts and I also work to find interesting ways for students to connect with English Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
It is my hope that the 6th grade learning experience will be filled with academic rigor, fascination, growth and fun! I will do my best to help prepare the students for the new responsibilities that they will encounter.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead. If you should ever need to contact me please feel free to set up an appointment, send a note or email me at [email protected]. With teacher preparation, student participation and parental support, I am sure that we will have a successful school year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Owens, M.S. Ed.
